Silkie thread!

I moved my grey roo out of the bbs pen and put a blue guy in there. I still have to move the 2 lavsplash hens over there too. Then there will be 2 black hens 1 splash hen 1 blue hen and a blue roo. My bbs pen will be done. I still need a couple more white girls. I think I have 1 white pullet so one more and i'll be done with that color too. I have 3 partridge hens and a partridge roo so that pen is done too. I need to get some buffs now. I have none. Well I have 1 chick but it has spots on it's back and I don't want to start out with something that isn't right so like I said.... I need some buffs now. If i'm lucky enough to come across lavender that would be great.

I'm going out in a minute to rig a fan up on the babies. The older birds seem to be taking it better thankfully *knock on wood*

I put a patio mister along the front of my coop, and it is working excellent to keep everyone cool. It does get the ground just in front of coop damp, and everyone is having fun scratching up bugs in the soft dirt, and they are a little damp and dirty, but cool and very happy. Only draw back is it is really attracting the flies bad.

One of my girl's poop is black.

I don't know why...

It's solidified most of the time and sometimes has a white cap. But it's like legit black. Feed is new but that's it-flockraiser. She's drinking the same and eating vigorously-not unlike her. No change in behavior. I'm not really concerned. Just kinda odd? Wormed the bunch anyway but I know that's not it.

Just another day on the farm...

I went through this with one of my girls last fall. She had black tar like stools and I thought she was really sick even though she acted perfectly fine. It took a while but it cleared up. She was going through a molt at the time but I do not know if that had any to do with it. Never did find out really what caused it even though I tried through every channel I could tap. Hopefully yours will come out just fine also. It did take a while.

Oooh, I've seen that page before! I remember I once when I was just starting out took 'intestinal lining' to be blood so I started freaking out.

I guess chickens go through some weird stuff for no reason? Checked on her before I locked 'em up for the night. Not so much as a peep.

She is molting so maybe it is somewhat related? I've seen the tar-like stuff before but alot of her fecal matter looked totally normal-just...black.

Try changing the angle of the mister heads, and perhaps run if for several shorter periods of time.
