he's got silkie on both sides somewhere, the comb and the silkied feathers (also the face reminds me of a silkie) - the silkied feathers have to come from both parents to get a silkie feathered bird....He reminds me of something like a delaware crossed with silkie. Someone had some fun with their flock to create that boy! I like him though.

May I ask a dumb question?....

My silkies that I posted pics a while ago....Think they are 5+ months, but not sure cause I got them for someone else....ANYWAYS....

When I have the Silkies sitting in my lap...If i put my hand on their back to pet them....they raise their BUTT in the air...HOW COME !?!?!?!

natural instinct. - most chickens do it, but silkies do it more. in other breeds its typical of hens not roosters. in silkies - especially younger ones they ALL do it. Hens do it instinctually from I guess thinking its a rooster ??? i dunno. I've noticed it too though and thats the best I've ever come up with

I was wondering if that coul mean they are Pullets...cause I was told they were...but I don't know..... I know that my bantam rooster(that is not silkie) does not do it..in fact he will try to get out from under my hand...and my other bantam Pullet that is only 2 months does the butt up ...head down thing....Oh well..hope they are Pullets

Can you get a better picture of him when he is standing still? His feet need to be under his body at about the same distance as his head sits back to make him look like a balanced bowling ball.

I found some other pictures I already had of him. Do these help show what you are looking for? If not I can try to get more tomorrow.

In a couple of those pictures he looks like he could roll right over backwards.

I think he's pretty handsome anyway.

Is there any way to tell how light (or usually not so light) one's blue silkie chicks will be when they mature? I had two that looked like they would be pretty dark (in fact I thought they would be black when they were brand new) and three that were quite a bit lighter. In any given light, the three look almost as dark as the darkest ones, but their heads are definitely light gray and the feathering at the end of their wings is fairly light gray.

The middle picture is good. That's how they are supposed to look. Take a look at my white cockerel. This was taken when he was about 16 wks. old.
