Silkie thread!

Torrelee....some of my silkie mixes turned out to be absolutely gorgeous! I love them all the same. I know what you mean about how their feathers are....not hard but kind of like a wispy type look. I do like the silkie/turken crosses. I have gotten some very unique colors from this mix. You little ones are very cute!

Is black a very dominant color genetically then? There were right around a dozen chicks and all of them were black. There was a black silkie hen, a black silkie/turken hen, a black silkie roo, a white silkie roo, a red turken roo, and a d'uccle roo where I picked them up. They were hatched out by a d'uccle hen, so I suppose they could have crossed in either direction. Silly genetics.

Here is a quick pic of some of the babies, now 5 days old. Love this little black one up front, sure hope his/her toe tips color in? Both middle toes on each foot have a pink tip.

The White one's legs and feet are now all black. All are doing well, and are the biggest little piggies I've ever had! Man, can they eat or what?!

I understand that mites can sometimes get down in their ear and cause imbalance or even wry neck symptoms. Perhaps using anti-mite eardrops for dogs would take care of any mites that might be down inside his ear.

Gorgeous boy...I'll take a brother or a son if they look like him!!

Thanks for the idea! - I will have to look for some ear mite medicine. Perhaps we could swap some eggs when he is fit as a fiddle and able to perform his "duties"
