Would you mind posting the link to the bator your talking about on ebay? Cause I seen one plywood incubator for sale.

Here's the link (I believe) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Red-Incubator-Chicken-Quail-Waterfowl-Reptile-Eggs-/160594338190?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25642b218e
We
had power outage on the last two hatches, so my husband bought an inverter from Harbor Freight and hooked up to our electric cart. Work great!

Yeppers that's on of the incubators I was looking at. I think I like the upright ones better but you could really see all the eggs pretty easy with that style!

If you got some 1/4" plywood drill jigsaw & a saw then you can build it alot cheaper than you can to buy 1.Here is my 1st one I built. And guess what it had a 100% hatch.

Shoot anything that gives you a 100% hatch is awesome! Is it a plastic tub that you started with? How did it do holding the heat in?

It done a great job on heat & humidity. Plastic tub from walmart 2 lamp sockets kits & most important is thermostat that will turn lights on & off.The who thing was less than $75 to build after buying everything to build

well buff x buff haha! buff x lavender would sorta be predictable so would buff x blue I guess. buff x lav would be more desirable buff x blue well idk if that's gonna get you a color you'd want. Go to the chicken color calculator and play around. Use the second row drop boxes, the ones written in english. Put buff on the left and then play with the colors on the right and it'll give you a estimate of what you can expect from the cross color wise. Like I put in buff x black and it said that 50% will hatch out black.

This sounds really dumb so excuse me but won't the plastic melt? lol I'm a worry wart I'm sure the light bulbs are far enough away from the plastic that it's not gonna melt but I'm just envisioning a big plastic tub on fire pumping out black smoke everywhere! Probably only at my house would something like that happen lol I have the worst luck!

ok this might be a stupid question but my chicks i just hatched are 9 days old and i have some that are bigger than the others is it true that the roosters are bigger in size than the females even at a young age. i know it is hard to sex silkies and never really know if they are boys or girls till they lay or crow. one of the 2 silkies that survived a coon attack is a boy he just learned to crow and the other silkie that is 8 weeks old not sure yet but thinking he is a boy to but is is loosing alot of feathers.

It will only melt it if you install bulbs close to the plastic. But I use the new swivel bulbs they make nowadays. you can use any wattage you wnt but you will have to adjust your thermostat accodingly.
