My roos crow from 5AM to about 4pm, on and off though but they are very loud.

I've had one Silkie cockerel crowing since he was about 9 weeks old. Started in the house!

Now that he is out in the main run, yet seperated from the big Marans roos, he has decided he IS the MAN of his pen. He crows at dawn in competition with the "big" boys, but lets up around 9am. Today I saw him fence fighting with a Marans cockerel who is 3 times his size! We are talking about an 18 week old Silkie cockerel here, and he has also been caught trying to mount some of the Silkie girls in the pen.

When he crows, it is about half of the volume of my Marans roos, but it sounds like someone is choking an old woman!

No doubt in my mind, or his, that he's ALL MALE!!
