Silkie thread!

No but my neighbor does. he gets some very pretty and interesting colors. He bred a partridge over a black and when the chick got all it's feathers it was black with red streaks all over it. it looke like a black and red splash.

Would you guys care to comment on my blue pullet Lila? She's about 6 months old now. Is it too early to start even thinking of showing this bird? Or, does she even look show worthy? From what I have learned, I don't think she looks so bad. I have no decent picture of her feet as of now, even this picture is blurry as the camera focused on the fencing behind her and after this shot she turned her back on me. lol But for her feet, she has feathers on the outer and the middle toes. Seems that the feathers on her legs look pretty good, then again I could be wrong. I'm not an expert.
Does this little girl have what it takes?

She looks awfully nice from what I can see but like you, I am no expert. Her back could be a bit long but maybe it's just the pose.

I'm hoping my shipped silkies will start laying soon(I think two were laying before I got them but I'm not sure. They are all squatting though). It will be a week since I got them tomorrow. Do shipped birds take a while to get used to everything before they start laying??

Yes shipped and even birds just bought locally and moved - the stress will make them stop laying. Not all birds stop, but most usually quit for a few weeks. If they are squatting they are laying age, it can take anywhere from a few days to over a month before they start laying. Just don't unduly stress them, keep them to a routine so they get used to it and can settle down faster and easier. Give them extra treats and a small dish of free choice oyster shell, will help their body build back up and be in better working order to produce good eggs when they start back.
