Silkie thread!

Thanks!!
I bought two white silkie pullets at the show. They're 2 months old and as cute as can be.
One of the silkies I bought:
LL

I also just hatched out 9/12 eggs from Cj's silkies. I'll try to get pictures of the chicks soon.

What a face

I also noticed today that one of my silkies (the youngest one, pictured in my avatar picture) has only 4 toes, not 5. Been doing some reading up on that. Doesn't really matter to me at this point because it's not like I plan to show or even breed these chicken (yet). But if I do end up with a roo and hen out of the two I have will they throw more 4 toed babies if they breed?

Breaded silkies have a lot of fluff under their chin and on their cheeks, non-beard have almost no fluff under their chin and cheeks. There are other subtile differences but I'm not good on the qualities of non-bearded. The naked necked ones are a variety of silkie called Show Girl. Four toes is a disqualification for a silkie at a show so they don't make the best breeding stock as they may pass that fault on.

So sorry about your girl. I sure hope she gets well. When I had my hatchery silkies I was able to tell the boys at about 5 or 6 weeks because of comb development and the fact that they started getting red in their combs.

Two of mine have huge combs so far. Two have tiny ones. And my baby Peepers, the one with wry neck, has kind of a medium one. Could it be that shes really a he and the comb is slow to develop because of the Vitamin E deficiency? I hope she just has a big comb

Ill try to get pics up later when they're being more cooperative lol

Look what followed me home today...

two buffs and two whites.

Their "big sisters" (I hope) at 3 months old

And their biggest sisters (who are in desperate need of a bath...)

The two older buffs were a surprise that I was not expecting. Today was a great day, and tomorrow my trios come home!
