Silkie thread!

vulture hock is a DQ in most breeds except D'uccles that actually vulture hocks is part of their standard...I have never heard of a silkie being DQ'ed over vulture hocks because you can't really tell if they even have them.

Split wing is a DQ. Angel wing i've only ever heard of in ducks, and looks much like split wing.
I had a silkie with angel wings. If I had known what to do, I likely could have corrected it when it was a baby.

As for the critique I was assuming you were asking for a type and standard critique sorry if I misunderstood!

She is beautiful I love the columbian look to her honestly.

I have some silkies who are very light and have very little mass to them and I have others who come from different lines that are super heavy weights, if they eat well and are still light feeling, they are probably always going to be a 'light weight

No I did ask for critique! I didnt mean you didnt give me what I asked for. You didnt misunderstand. Lol I was honestly thankful for your help!

Shes beautiful, but for a buff shes got way too much smutty black/dark coloring (wings, tail, neck, crest)
Type wise she looks long in the back (though it could be the angle of the shot and if she was moving around) and she does not have the deep chested look I'd expect to see in a near 5 month old pullet, but again it could be because of the angle and her cooperation for the shot...
I think you've calculated her age wrong. If she was hatched Dec. 16th she isn't quite 4 months and will likely fill out more. I agree with Jessy that she is very pretty but too much extra blue. I actually like the color a lot!

She was hatched on Dec 14th 2011 I counted the calender and thats 16 weeks. Would that be 4 months?? Shell be 17 weeks tomorrow.

Okay!!! I had a baby hatch this morning! My ONE and only... an only child!! I just got home a little bit ago. But before I left this morning, I did get a couple of pictures of her (which made me a bit late). AH well. :) My new chick!!!

Here's my broody mama (she's not really the mama, BTW-- my Black pullet laid this egg) My chick is under her! (BELOW)

This is the baby-- I set her down to take her picture, and then I felt terrible I did that, she couldn't stand up yet. (BELOW)

She's still a little wet here-- after I took this pic, I put her back under mama hen. (BELOW) BUT look-- she has a vaulted skull like her real mama has! It's quite a vault, too-- I don't know if I should be worried about it????

OKay, and I just got home like 15 mins ago and I took these two pictures-- she's all fluffed up... well, kind of! LOL
LL

And here she is-- cutest thing EVER!! Okay, I'm just saying that because she's MINE!! LOL

So she must have hatched pretty early this morning, because the first two pictures were taken around 8am and she was already about half way dry. What color do you think she is??? Her daddy is Splash and mama is Black (or a very, very dark Blue). Is she Splash????

SQUEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

And Sultans have them, too, as a standard, afaik...........

I just hatched 14 Silkies out. I never thought I would want a Silkie, but I kept finding myself looking at those darling pictures. I wasn't sure I was going to keep any of the babies, but I decided to keep one. Oh, my, goodness..has she stole my heart? I am hoping she is a blue splash. I am hoping she is a girl first and foremost though. :) What a doll, even it's a boy..it better be a girl! So sweet. I understand they go broody quite often. I am in chickens for the eggs, so, that is one reason I never gave in, until, she came along. I had so many people wanting me to hatch some Silkies, then I do, then I cave! Here's a few pictures..interesting, she had all black feet/toes, until I taped her one little crooked toe. When I took the tape off, it was pink on the end. Guess what I named her? Pinky, of course, better be a girl with a name like that!
I'm tellin ya, stole my heart. :)
