Silkie thread!

Hello, where can i buy silkies i have looked and looked and just cant find any please help!
someone here might be able to help. In about 3-4 months, I'll be getting rid of chicks that have faults or don't quite fit what I want. They will still look like fantastic birds. Other's here that may live nearby YOU may be doing the same thing with their birds-- thinning them out. It's best to tell us which state you are in. Also, Amber Waves sells silkies that are sexed. If you can't have roosters, then that might be the best way to get your silkies.

That was me less than a year ago, I think! lol People here are very helpful. I've asked a lot of stupid questions and always get an answer. lol

My husband buried Friend this morning after we found her dead in the kennel. We are both sad about her loss. Neither of us had ever had Silkies and just recently got the trio and pretty much instantly fell in love with them. They have such personalities.....fun little chickens. About mid-morning I decided to go to the feed store to get more scratch and pellets since we were low. When I got there I heard cheeping.....oh boy!! They had Silver laced Wyandottes....I got 4. Now I'm on the watch for more silkies....Hubby and I decided we'd like more silkies....I just love the way they hop instead of running like my other hens run. We are on the search!!!
So sorry about your bird.

Mine are pets and I love them all.

I bet that was so funny to see. they crack me up when they sleep, too. head down like they are playing dead. first time I saw this I thought a couple of my chicks were dead.

I hadn't had chickens for about 18 years, then started up again. I had never hatched or brooded them inside either. My first hatch of 5 Black Copper Marans were about a week old. I hadn't left the house since they had hatched, but had to go to town that day. Walked into the brooder room when I returned, and there were all 5, laying on their sides, one foot up in the air, and wings stretched out!

Evidently, I let out a rather loud, "OMG"!! and scared the daylights out of them all! They all jumped to their feet, with eyes the size of pie pans! I now recognize the schnoozing posture...

That's me doing the happy dance. lol
The other 10 so far have been blues/splashes other than one white and one strange colored one. lol I've been waiting to see a black one and now we finally have one! Watch this one turn out to be just a very dark blue.

I'll post pictures later.

I just bought five white silkies. They currently reside in a 5 x 5 box in my garage. They are almost ready to move out to the main coop. I see that Debbi in MO keeps Marans as well as Silkies. So do I. Any advice on transitioning my little Silkies into the flock? Do they need a smaller roost? Ramps? Any and all advice is welcome.
