Silkie thread!

Would love some opinions on these four birds, they are 7 weeks old. All have five toes and good foot feather (though you can't tell right now as they are in need of baths from playing in the water)

#1 - Black, girl I think. She's from a paint breeding

#2 - Color help, I'm thinking blue partridge, but would like some more experienced help. I'm debating whether to keep or sell this one. I think this is also a girl. This chick is about half the size of the black, but very fuzzy. Came from a different set of eggs.

#3 - blue splash, again I think a girl. She's small like #2, I'm pretty well going to sell her, but would still like some opinions on her so I can learn some more for better selection.

#4 - Picaso - paint boy, he's always had a bigger comb then the rest. When I select hens for him in the future what areas do you think I should work to improve on first?

Thank you, I look forward to your input..and don't be worried about telling me if something is really bad or not. I just want to learn so I can improve on my stock. :)
It's very hard to judge by just a picture or two. I wouldn't sell your partridge just yet. It may have the best type of the four. I would say your paint is very likely a boy. I won't guess on the others. I wouldn't worry too much about size at this age. In my experience small ones usually catch up. I think your biggest problem is wings. They all appear to have loose wings or split wings, but they are young and may out grow that. In my limited experience they don't. Split wing is a DQ. You mentioned they had been in the mud so possibly their wings are muddy and heavy or they are molting to a new stage. As far as keeping them, it depends on your plans for the future. Your partridge color looks normal to me but could be dark blue. Hope you get some other feed back!!

Had "Jessica" outside for a dust bath today. VERY hot here today so she loved it. Just another week of quarantine and then I can add her to the Silkie pen!! (Hoping Jess is a girl .... ).

The font is called "Satisfaction" or "Taylor Swift". (I obviously love it too!

Also heard new crowing from the Silkie pen today. Just 9 weeks old!!!!!!

And it wasn't totally pathetic so I'm thinking this wasn't likely his first time. Elliot has competition!!!
Thanks for the info! Are you sure Jess is a pullet?

Im sorry but all wings show issues. Wings in natural carriage should be tight and snappy held at the horizontal. Primaries folding under secondaries. And for splits one would need to fan out the wing to see all 21 feathers displayed.. Showing a distinct split in fan. Becareful not to over flex the wing. Can give off results.
Wings on silkies seem to be the most neglected of the breed IMO. You should cull hard on wings.

I was thinking today that the beak looked male, sort of. Still, I'm hopeful because the other Catdance Porcelain I have (likely "split" because it is MUCH more colourful - I got some swanky pictures of him earlier. I'll try to get them posted later) is a full week younger and MUCH larger - clearly male (comb, behaviour.) So I am looking forward to learning as I watch these birds grow out. (This beak is not as "eagle" as some of the others I have but I only have the 2 porcelain although I do have a handful of lavender splits from Catdance that I'm assuming may be related to the porcleains.) The other thing that makes me think female is because this chick is SO different than Elliot at the same age (who is completely unrelated.) Not that it means much. We were all SO convinced Elliot was female. I think a few folks had a hard time believing me when I insisted he was crowing!!!!

Folks STILL think he is female. Poor Elliot ...

Can you explain a bit more with the loose/split wings? Are you meaning the way the wings lay against the body or the two feather types?
I noticed these guys have been slow to get the furry look of a silkie. The top knots were like small for a long time and then just started filling in lately.

I'll try and get some wing photos tomorrow and see how they look. Good to know this is such a major problem, I'd hate to breed anything that is an automatic DQ for showing.
