I have Polish, and Houdans are a "cousin" of them-- they have a similar look, but their crests are different, and of course, Polish don't have 5 toes. Even if she's not a Houdan cross, she is likely mixed with something that had a crest. I agree, her coloring is really pretty.Hawkeye ~ The photo was upright when it was loaded into the forum but when loading finished it was sideways. The lady I purchased her from had tons of different kind of birds so it's possible she is a mix with any number of birds x Silkie. I just thought she was beautiful. Her coloring amazes me. I could look at her all day. Thank you for your input. I'm going to go look up Houdans now![]()
AwYou know, I just have to say I think Silkie people are just about the nicest people in some of the forums. You are all so helpful and complimentary towards newbies and some not so new. I really appreciate that you take the time to respond to folks inquiries. I think it may have something to do with the breed we're drawn to - you know - sweet, gentle birds that just today I was thinking are like the lapdogs of the chicken world. I think Silkies attract sweet, gentle people. I could be wrong. Maybe I'm just overly optimistic because the sun is shining right now in the Northwest...![]()

her up in the nesting boxes and I was able to snap these shots.
I
I THINK SHE'S BEAUTIFUL. THE COLORS IN HER FEATHERS LOOK LIKE A LIGHT GRAY TO A BLUISH/GREEN ON THE TIPS OF THE FEATHERS ON HER NECK.
