I'm so sorry. Its always terrible to loose a feathered friend.

I lost one of my good white silkie pullets tonight to something, I think it was a raccoon.

Meet my Silkie, Anastasia! She's a sweetie! This is my first flock and Anastasia along with a little "blue" silkie were a gift! They are hands down the sweetest of my flock!
Soo cute!! Love her!!

I'm excited that last night was the FIRST night my 8 silkies got in the coop by themselves. We were out later than usual for 4th of July celebrations. It was nice to go out to the pen and just lock up for once!

Oh and just a bit of advice for other silkie owners....Don't wear flip-flops and red toe nail polish in the silkie pen.

They always swarm around me, but the pecking and biting was a little too much!

Here are some of my sweeties devouring frozen vegetables:

I wear flip flops and short.....sometimes, I'll have a scratch on my foot or leg and my reds make me move a lot faster!! Red nail polish....I can imagine!!

I love the frozen veggie idea, too!!
One of my adorable white babies right after he hatched yesterday.

I have seven babies right now. All these hatched on day 20 so I am not sure if any more will come today or tomorrow. Thoughts ???

I just can't stand the cuteness!!

ok sooooo, my ugly silkies found a home.... a little boy (9 yrs old) started a flock of miss fits (his mom called them that) and he calles them his babies. He loved on them and held them and feed them and named them muffen and stuffen. they now have a happy home. I will try again next year with silkies from a diffrent dealier... thanks for you information and help in dealing with the poor ugly things.

Someone posted about where they got leg bands. The ones that are kind of spiraled and grow with the birds. I can't for the life of me remember what online store it was? I hope that person remembers who they are and can post the website again. I don't really want to go back that far in posts, but I will if i absolutely have to.

Thanks!
Kim

I just wanted to share...I had 9 silkie chicks hatch out yesterday and today. They are from CJ's silkies.

What color is this one? The egg said P/L but I forget what that stands for...

Blue

This might be the buff chick?

Lav or maybe splash?

Black

There are a few others - I think in total I had 2 whites, 1 buff, 1 P/L, 1 "splash," and I think the rest hatched out of BBS eggs. The others are still fluffing out, i will get pics of them soon!

Well, no chickies here. I had two make it to lock down, but the bad air cells were more of a trap that kept them from moving for the goal in the end.

I opened them this morning to see that there was no way for them to have made it. Now, I'm left with seven more, from the same place, to watch and wait.

But, on a positive note, I am supposed to get eggs from mbrobbins from here. She has beautiful Silkies and lives about an hour from me, and I hope to be getting two dozen....tomorrow, maybe.

Scroll down. They are called chick coils. Not the best laid out website but the most reasonable place I've found. :) http://www.poultrysupplies.com/index_files/Page723.html
