Silkie thread!

If they haven't made any progress in 24 hrs. I usually help. If they aren't strong enough to pip I don't help because the first time I did I found it was deformed and that was the problem. :(
I agree.....I'm impatiently waiting....

We have the opposite problem in California with low huidity.

The 4 chicks in the "farm" and "basket" photos are the only eggs that hatched from Mary's eggs out of 16.

But, they were shipped coast to coast. And, it was my very first time incubating -ever! I was using a borrowed, old Brower that was terrible at keeping even temperatures. Needless to say, those 4 babies were spoiled, house chickens for 8 weeks! I sold 2 because they had joined 4th and 5th toes. I can't believe Mysty Blue and BB are almost 6 months old. They are kind of like my firstborn (or rather first-hatched) babies.

You are fortunate to live by a good breeder. I'm fortunate to have a good breeder close to me too. However, someday I would like to order another dozen or so from Mary. Again, good luck with your eggs. Please keep us posted.

Our humidity is AWFUL in the room. Can range from 30-100%. Right now it is 88% humidity, and it is maybe a tad bit less inside. It has never bothered my incubator at all. It stays steady between 25-35% even when my room humidity is 40% higher.

Thank you! Now, if these chicks will hatch! Two had pipped before I got up today--lock down day--and I got the bator set, candled a few slow pokes before I realized it....they are vocal, but not zipping...I'm worried they may be shrink wrapped. One had pipped the wrong end...but, now has a pip in the correct end....oh, the madness!!!

Thanks you!! I have some of Mary's eggs, too. She lives pretty close to me--that's why I wanted to see more of the ones you got from her--but, pics of all Silkies are adorable!!

I have 12 supposed to hatch by Sat., and another double order in my other incubator. I have been having a problem with high humidity (around 45-48%)....I've tried everything, but the humidity in my house stays around 55%!! So, I'm gonna be done after the big batch until cooler weather.
are you running your incubator dry? Or are you running with water? Have you checked to see if the air cells are growing properly? I do run my incubator dry often.

First time user... desperately seeking a loving home for 2 of my Silkies. They just started crowing, and neighbors aren't thrilled. If anybody in the Mandarin, or close, area is interested, or knows someone that is, please let me know. They are free, I only ask they go to a loving home.
Welcome!! I'd put them on Craigs List! I just sold a couple of pet quality silkies for $5 a piece. BUT--- I was lucky, usually you have to give them away. I don't know which state Mandarin is in-- might want to put where you're from. Anyway, put them on Craigs List with a photo of them. I've noticed that ads with photos sell much faster. If you list them without a photo, I bet you will have them for weeks and weeks.

Am wondering of the color, is this a Blue silkie?? You can see her in the other picture as well.

Thank you
Ayda
Um, I would say blue, but you have some other stuff going on in that bird.... I don't know that I would bet it's a pure Blue. What were the parents??
