Silkie thread!

Hi I'm always interested in seeing what you all think of my Silkies. I'm a new chick Mom this year and not sure how far my new addiction will go...Ha!

From from the top is my Noodle Roo...he finally started crowing and now he just doesn't stop! The second is Nugget, when I picked her up I was told she was a Splash, and on the bottom is Scott she isn't bearded has 4 toes and barely any foot feathering. I was also told she was black but she has bits of chocolate coloring coming through on her neck...they free range so maybe it's sun bleaching? Looking forward to some feedback...Thanx in advance!!!!

I have not heard the term lavender partridge before but it sure fits what mine looks like. :) Have you done any crossing with this to regular partridge?

Karen Larson also suggested that XOXO's two 'porcelains' were actually lavender partridge, Micah, and I forgot her girls name...They both are bolder than you'd expect a porcelain to be, and has definitive partridge markings/penciling.

I have a lavender based blue partridge (lav partridge/blue partridge, George Mihalik I believe was even one of the original ones who suggested that the proper and best blue partridge has lavender in there BUT i won't swear by it) - anyway I think some are popping out Porcelain pens because of partridge backgrounds and someone expressing the pg pattern gene, giving that penciling ontop of the lavender base.

Hey everyone! With all the experience on this site, you all must have some good input on quarantine for new birds and show birds. Please stop over to the quarantine thread that I started and share your tips and cautions. Folks have been asking me what signs to look for in a bird that would indicate illness, disease, parasites etc. Please lend a hand with this issue...

That's interesting. I have never heard of that either but it should be pretty!

Is this gold enough in the hackles to be a boy?

Mine are not as dark as Micah. But both have black in their hackles. I'm still not getting around well (recovering from surgery) or I'd run out and look for penciling. :) They are still changing color so we will see. They are both really beautiful and I don't have a mate for the girl in my avatar. This is not a very good photo (flash didn't go off) but you get the idea. He was 4 1/2 months here. Taken a couple of weeks ago.

I went outside and found 4 white silkies and one black 1/3 polish 2/3 silkie had hatched! I read on here that silkies are prone to hatching early, and they did indeed, they were supposed to hatch sunday. One egg is left, but I'm not sure if it's going to hatch or not. Either way, this was a nice way to start my day
