The grey patch could just be dirt - doubt it is a baby trying to hatch since it is day 14. Shrink wrapped is something you probably won't have to worry about with a broody. I help them if they've pipped and are shrink wrapped, but have only had ONE live if internally pipped and shrink wrapped, but didn't externally pip. She is 16 weeks old now - and very healthy. Some take so long to zip that their membrane dries out, and I will help these as well. I have never ended up with a deformed chick because of it. They are all healthy and thriving. This sweet girl won't eat, drink, or poop unless I kick her out. She is a dream broody hen and usually very sweet although she pecked me tonight with the move, I don't blame her one bit. Is there anyway to know if they need help out because of shrink wrap or is it a loose loose situation? When I moved the eggs and her tonight into the rabbit cage I noticed one of the eggs had a gray patch on it that wasn't there before. What could that be from? Is it the chick trying to break through?
I sooooooo appreciate you helping me out this way!!! I'm sorry about your eggs ~ that has to be so hard. I'm glad you have two miracle babies to brighten your day. My husband and I just can't fathom how creative our Creator is. We marvel at all He has made. Blessings, Cindy
