Silkie thread!

She is really beautiful and belongs to Karen Larsen (Catdance). Here is a "porcelain roo" I got from her in an egg. :)

Love this guy. He wasn't quite 5 months here and is even prettier now. :)

Wow, you guys are busy on this thread..it's been a while..and look at what I see..this beauty!
My blue splash is squatting for me now. I am waiting for that egg. The white silkie will be soon after her.
Peep knows my blue splash by now. How ya doin peep? Hope your health is better. I want a silkie this color now. I have some eggs in that may come out paint. Crossing fingers..would love to have a paint.

I am going to receive my eggs pretty soon and I was planning on doing the dry incubation method in a hova bator 1588. My friend told me what to do but I am still confused about it. For example she told me to start at day 1 at 40% humidity and let it drop down to 20%. Once it reaches 20, add more water and try to keep it at 40%. On day 18 add water to 45%. Does that sound ok? I am so scared to mess up and worried I don't add enough water. What happen if the humidity fluctuate too much? Thanks

Don't worry about the humidity until day 18, and then make sure it is at least 65%, and if you can - higher is better.

My humidity fluctuates between 30% - 40% depending on my background humidity. I don't add any water at all.

saw somebody wrapped whole bales of hay around an eggloo to keep in warmer in winter  high enough to put one bale on top..we have round bales here. I thought you could just unroll the big bales on ground and wrap it round. pic is an old post card bigger than eggloo but you get the idea
Where is the ventilation though?
