Silkie thread!

Oh and my hen, well she roosted for the first time ever last night. She has NEVER NEVER NEVER ever roosted before! It was so strange to lock them up last night and see her roosting so high up!

Adorable little one! Looks about right. Between 1-2 weeks. I wouldn't guess over 2 weeks though. :love

Here is the image :)
To add it click the picture button on the tool bar above where you are posting. There should be a button to insert image. It will ask you for a URL - stick this link there and click OK, and choose a size (I always choose large).[/. She is precious... Thank you so much for the instruction
on how to post! I did read on a forum of an app for the iPhone ... However I did not
write it down.... I am going to try later..

hi everyone, have a question about a silkie and i figured ya'll would be the ones to ask. my silkie prefers to lay in the hay at night instead of on the perch, is this normal? her buddy an EE pullet sleeps on the perch and sonnie (the silkie) just sleeps close to the EE. note: the perch is very low so she only has to hop on it, since she doesn't fly or jump well. i have watched her do it before so i know she can make it up there effortlessly. the coop is also up 2ft high off the ground and very secure so not really worried about critters getting into it and getting to her. just curious....

We just had this conversation a few pages back. We call it a silkie pile. They don't like to roost. A silkie pile needs at least 12 silkies (more is preferred) to make it proper.

:gig

No I'm pulling your leg. This is just something we scheme to tell our significant others when they ask why we are adding more silkies. ;)

But for real - they do have a silkie pile. No you don't need 12.

New pictures.. The boy I kept this year is molting.. How weird. He's 20 weeks old, and his crest is all pins (as well as his hackles).
