Silkie thread!

Omgosh, My friend just called and said her silkie is crowing! it has no bumps or any color or anything to its comb. we thought for sure it was female!!!!!

Well cheese and yogurt is good for them so I wouldn't doubt they loved it lol. Don't know much about a missing nail though.

Make sure you check for mites, if you look around their necks and crest you will see them. I just had a infestation and I don't wish that on anyone. I finallly killed them all after 3 hours of treating the pen putting new litter, dusting all my birds and then the one that is sitting eggs had to not only be treated but had to have her face washed every day with baby shampoo water then treated with neo-sporin. Since they were attacking her. Then had to put vitamens in her water. So check your birds, the people I have talked to say if there are wild birds around there are mites. And this season is especially bad. If not taken care of they can kill your birds especially broody ones.

Best time to treat your hen is when she is setting. I dusted my girl who had lice while she was setting. I'd much rather have lice than mites. Mites are tough to get rid of!
