Silkie thread!

I have a black (out of blue) cockerel that has virtually NO comb and a seriously rounded crest that I always thought was a male because of his attitude - even right out of the egg - but he appeared so "female". I wasn't sure until he crowed. I'm not disappointed because I look forward to using him in my breeding program. Unfortunately, he lacks green sheen which proves he isn't truly black (which doesn't have anything to do with sex but rather colour/quality). So I hope you aren't disappointed if your bird proves male. Sounds like he may have a lot to offer!
The silkie looks nice. It has a nice crest, the feet are very feathery etc. I 'm no expert, but I think it looks like a nice bird. She doesn't want to keep a rooster though. I think I already have a rooster, so I don't want to take it in. Hopefully the younger splash she has is a female or she is going to be really really sad.

"Blacks" do spit out of blues (genetically) but they aren't usually the quality of black out of an exclusively black breeding program so I'm reluctant to call them black even though genetically, they probably are (i.e. lacking the Bl (blue) gene.) She may very well have a green sheen on top but "smutty blue" underfluff. If the girl has quality, I wouldn't hestitate to use her with blue and splash. The result might be darker blue and splash chicks but that might not be a problem depending on the cock you are using or your goals.
black is the origanal color blue is a dilute of black so if your breeding blue to blue your going get black
