Silkie w/swollen face. Update: May have figured it out. pine shavings?

I may have figured it out. I noticed that when I take her out of the cage her comb is bright red (normally grayish/burgandy in color) and after being out of the cage for a while it goes back to normal. The only thing that I changed recently in her cage is new pine shavings. I'm going to remove them and see if there is any change. Anyone ever have a problem like this?
