silkie won't come out of the coop

Sorry, but a hen saddle is not going to protect a 3 # hen from a 12 # rooster. Again, please think logically. The safety of an animal is involved.

I also think that silkies just like to hunker down in the coop. I have two that won't come out. I do have one rooster but I've never seen him bother any of the silkies. He has bigger hens he prefers. I think these two just like it in there in the corner. They're not even in a nest box!

Another thing to consider....is your Silkie broody? I have a little Silkie hen who's a year and a half old and she's been broody 4 times! She started young...raised her first batch of chicks at about 7 months old I think. All my little Silkie thinks about is raising babies...and she's a perfect little mommy. Maybe your little girl just wants a clutch of eggs to sit on, too...

That large rooster can/will break the back of a silkie.
I don't let my six silkies get anywhere near my ten bbs Orpingtons, and certainly not the roosters.
