GOOD LUCK ON THE HATCH!!!!!

Wow, they are beautiful. Can't wait to add some of those to my lines.
:jumpy Good luck with your hatch!!!!! :fl Got my group together Tuesday in a breeding pen so now it's the 2 week wait for purity :pop Out of a possible 10 Silkied girls 7 made the cut to the breeding pen and 1 lucky Silkied Lavender roo. Everyone is getting along good so now we wait :pop SO EXCITED!!!!!! :weee Trish

One silkied chick. Two were fully developed but didn't even pip. But hopefully my next hatch will go better. I have 8 that will hatch next weekend and last night candled and saw a moving chick in each. Question for those hatching silkied, what humidity do you recommend.

Sorry I meant to answer this last week. DRY INCUBATE! I add NO water at all for the first 19 days (vents wide open) and then I fill my tray to give me about 50% humidity for the last 2 days (I only do a 2 day lockdown). I also add un-activated Oxine to the water. My chicks hatch like popcorn.

It's amazing how many of us dry incubate; I figured my case was oddball since my house has known humidity issues that require a dehumidifier to run on standby 24/7 in the basement in case the humidity rises above the threshold (aka anytime we get precipitation). I don't add anything even during lockdown anymore, which might be where the high house humidity is making things different.

What does the Oxine do to the water?

Oxine is a breathable safe sanitizer. I've even hear of people using it in vaporizers when there are resp. issues.
Great to use cleaning your incubator/hatcher - even dipping or misting eggs when setting.

Sorry Tish - was a black silkied split to lav, guess I dis-remembered where the splash was from. My bad.

During the winter my house is BONE dry with the heat going - like single digits to dust. I try to keep between 25-45% with alarm set at 20. It goes off about every 3 days....
Lockdown day 18-19 & I set 60-70% humidity - not unusual to start hatching a day early.

Don't think SiAms are really all that hard to hatch - low humidity incubation an then wet enough to avoid shrink wrap at lock down.

Good to know, going to add it to my incubator cleaning supplies. At least I can clean them over and over while I wait to start hatching haha.
