I've never had silkies but bought 2 4 weeks old last week.
I recently hatched out 2 batches of my own eggs that are a week apart.
So I have 3 12 day olds and 4 4 day olds and the 2 silkies. I had them all in seperate brooders but took them all out together last night to let them run around and play.
I've read that silkies are excellent broodies and moms/foster moms, but at 4 to 5 weeks old?
Take a look at these pics!!
Here are most of the chicks
Then, it started with just one baby,
Then the others joined in
At one time this little silkie had 4 chicks under her and she
didn't seem to mind at all!! (count the chicks in next to last pic)
Come on guys, isn't 4 weeks just a little early for the mommy thing to start showing?
