Hi All,
I am hatching Silkie eggs and I am 5 days out from hatch. Two of the eggs are moving today! The other three are not however after candling, the chicks look to be doing okay. I have a second incubator should I move them over to that one so as not to disturb the others and raise humidity? Also, is this too soon for them to even be able to live, 5 days early??
Thank you

Im new to hatching my own chicks. About how long from seeing movement do I have before they hatch?

Hi, welcome to BYC! :frow

Hatching can be so exciting. :wee

I hatch Silkies all the time... on day 21.

You mean you see movement at candling or your eggs are rocking? Are you using a thermometer? What temp, still or forced air? Have you moved the eggs around inside the incubator to help ensure even development, since temps do vary throughout even in forced air? How have you kept your humidity, air cells looking good? :pop

Only way they can hatch successfully that far ahead is if there was more development than thought when sat, like... high temp during shipping, improper storage, or someone collecting from a broody. Also miscalculating or counting days maybe.

:fl :jumpy:jumpy

My eggs are rocking. I have them in a Brinsea turning every 90 minutes. Counting down on Brinsea and manually. I’m using a thermometer/hygrometer showing 99.5 and 45% humidity pretty steadily. I received eggs by mail and the other three have detached air cells but look to still be alive and developing. Per advice online I have those three standing on pointed end and turning only once a day due to the air cell. I have only switched their placement within the incubator a couple times.
