Silkies Hen or Rooster?

awww.... out of the 15 chickens I've gotten this year. 7 have been roosters. =(

Ok - so, Poof, Silkie #1 in my pics, turned out to be a pullet!! She laid her first egg today.

It's the one on the far right-- super little- on the far left is a store bought large egg.

I don't know yet, no crowing or anything yet, and it's comb is still pretty small. I'm hopeing JC is a girl too!

that's good. poof really looked like a boy due to what appears to be streamers from the crest in your first pics....do you have any updated pics?

Here are some of her, that I took today. Last night she laid another egg, on the floor of the coop. I was a little worried about her last night, because she slept on the floor of the coop, instead of roosting with the rest of the girls. Now I know why.

Wow. Well, I see it now. The pics from before had me swearing it was a cockerel!
Funny how things change so abruptly over time!

I disagree lol i think that both are pullets wich obiously Poof is but keep us updated i may be wrong!

I have two silkies that I was told were hens....

The first one I'm pretty sure is a hen.

The other (JC) Is starting to act a little like a rooster. More chest bumping and fighting, but her comb doesn't seem to be getting any bigger, and I don't know what else to look for.

if on would be a rooster it would have 2 long strands o hair stick up off its head
