You need liberal amounts (piles in corners) of DE. Forgive the spelling but here goes: Diatomaceous Earth. DE is not a poison. It will dehydrate those nasty bugs. Have you tried any sort of trap? Perhaps something like a large bucket that they crawl into and can't leave. Then you "feed" your chickens in the morning.
oh! how strange, I have notice these ugly boogers in my runs hiding under the waterers. I have also found them in the feed on occasion. My biggest concern is I am terrified they will find their way to the house as my coops are directly in my back yard. I have had chickens for two years and never seen one roach. My back yard is all cedar and to my understanding roaches hate cedar. I haven't seen them in the coops so far, but I REALLY don't want them near the house, I have heard they are near impossible to get rid of!
Trust me, they are impossible to get rid of in the house. My coops sit on my deck, right up next to the house. Guess where the roaches vacation? I have cockatoos indoors and can't use any aerosol insecticides to rid the nasty little varmits from my house. It has been a fight to the death for almost a year now. I hear there's a gel bait the pest control companies use now that makes the roaches attack and eat each other. (They probably named it 'Congress' or something. HAHAHAHAHAHa!) That is my next attempt to win this war. My best exterminator so far has been my vacuum cleaner from midnight to 3 am. I'll let you make your own mental pictures.
By the way, the BIG palmetto bugs won't get in bed with you if you just leave their saddles on and tie their bridles securely to a towel bar. At least that's worked for me.
