Silkies tag-teaming the 2 batches of eggs.

Oppsie.... Update for a final total.
All furtilized eggs hatched. All appear healthy.
'Flappy' has a salt-n-pepper & 4 yellowish white chicks
The white pancake has all hers (plus the one from 'flappy' before she moved to the broody dog crate.). So that's:
1 blackish
3 salt-n-pepa's
9 yellowish white
1 brownie w/stripes (my Better-half and kiddos this it's an Americana hybrid as it's the brown egg that was layer in the run next to the silkies setup.

Great hatch....so how are the mama's getting along?

Well, it's another Tuesday and Tina is still doing great with 'flappy' & her chicks. Tonight or tomorrow she's going back to the other batch.....
I'll try to get updated pics. They are adorable as all get out too! The Momma's are only mildly annoyed by our presence with an occasional soft peck but, that's it. All in all. I'm diggin' it.

As a cool tidbit. The white silkie.momma was 'teaching' the chicks to get the chunks of minced garlic outta the water and eating it.

Well June 10/11 didn't go so well, had to remove "Tina" from the white momma's crate. They had a falling out and she started getting really rough on a couple chicks. So, quickly put her back with 'flappy' and she started the same with flappy in short order. So. ... Tina's in a temp solo dog crate next to the sexlink in croop medical hold dog crate for about a week now as the run and coop are retrofit for better use of space......

And here a few pics of the little times w/momma's.

So here's an update.... These pics are from July 3-7 as today I just finished a significant amount or run renovation..... IMG_20200705_113026_01.jpg

Well craptastic... I have 2 pics that the website refuses to load. Each one has failed to load 3x.... It gets 100% and then refreshes the box with a line through the entire jpg name and grays out..... (Uggh)

Well that's utterly wierd. I clicked on "post reply" and a pop-up window said pics still uploading YET, I had cancelled those two pics......so, I tried one of those 2 pics and tried to upload one last time.... It worked. So let's see if it's gonna let me post now?

Well I guess I'm stuck in limbo.....
Here's what I keep getting:

It's been several minutes and still it does this even thought it shows all pics are loaded.

Its 23:09 Sunday night..... For the last 2 full days the white silkie, her batch and 'Tina' have been in the run together and for the most part 'Tina has behaved.... In fact for most of Saturday she spent it taking a dust bath.

Flappy and her batch were brought out to the run but, kept in her crate down at the ground level for everyone to see each other....

Today about noon, I set up a couple ramps for Flappy & her batch to walk/waddle out into the run to mix with the others....

All seemed fine 'Tina did a little hen pecking to both Momma's but, not much.
I'll try to upload pics tomorrow.... Today still no luck.

I am super curious. What is the story with that red chick?

Sure, I can clarify. I did give a very brief back story on one of the initial posts but, here goes.

On one of the mornings I was out to check on the whole crew; the water and food containers too.

Opening the screen door to the run and seeing a hen all comfy on the ground at the rear of the silkie run(west side) which was under the "nest access door".... As I stepped into the run she got up, squaked and ran off. I didn't think anything of it and went to check on the silkie food and water. Walking a loop around the silkie mini-coop & run I looked down and saw there was a warm fresh brown egg where that hen was all comfy in the main run. I thought, huh oh well & simply picked it up, opened the silkie nest door and sat it in with the beginning clutch of silkie eggs and would collect it later that night when I normally pick up eggs.
Well, didn't turn out that way. Kiddo's did the food, water & egg run at night then and several days in a row afterwards.
When we desided to candle the silkie eggs I saw the brown egg & giggled. Well, let's see what happens now as it was well on its path to developing too.

So far it doesn't seem to be show any significant pecking order issues. The salt-n-pepa's and a couple of the white-ish chicks on the other hand are.... It's kinda cute. The brownie seems to be quite the "momma's chickie" still, even though it size is now a bit larger then all the rest of the Chickie's.
