Y’all. We’ve hit the awkward teenager stage… and everyone is chest bumping like crazy lol. These babies should be about 5-6 weeks old but some are def bigger than others 🐓 🤪
I was out feeding late yesterday and was watching my 4 week olds chest bumping and running around.. funny as all get out. :lau

3rd generation silkie cross. She's getting better color on her feathers as more adult looking ones come in. View attachment 3180468

Can someone tell me what type of silkies these are?

Note that the silkies don't really care that they are there. The cat had a chicken food snack before leaving.
She's a cutie for sure.. Have you bred her mother back to the father, or a different male? Gen Lee is the one I suspect of having a partridge gene, so I'm putting his daughter back in with him. Lil Ms Mocap I'm not sure of.. I want to definitely keep the black headdress but also want to keep the blue, so maybe a blue splash male for her. Not the best pic but she's camera shy.

Each generation has been bred back to a partridge silkie.

11 weeks today. It's the wheaten still effecting the partridge on her coloring. Next gen will be good on the partridge. I have 2 fourth gen. I'm just trying to widen the gene pool.

I'll go get a picture of her full brother later. He looks really good for not being 100% silkie.

Now here's a question.. out of 8 eggs hatched (silkie mixes - Gen Lee is the dad) All of the males are showing this color scheme in one form or another.. Fluff Meister was the first, now these two younger brothers.. all of the females have been lighter muted colors.. So is the dark pattern associated with males?

Not a single girl has had this wide range of colors or pattern. And no light colored males have hatched from Gen Lee.
