I wish I was near! I would love some buff silkies but it is not easy to find them here.

Waaaaaaaaaaa, My lil Poof Poof was laying on the floor of the pen this morning and didn't get up to charge when I put feed out.. She's always the first one to stick her face in the feed trough.. so something wasn't right.. Brought her up the the baby crib brooder to watch her, and her first attempt to walk ended in a nose plant (beak plant?).. Gave her food and water and I can see her from my computer desk.. Looked like her right leg wasn't working right, but it's been a couple of hours and she's up moving, eating and drinking now. What could have happened?

check her for lice and mites, leg injury or even some respiratory issue. you can start a new thread where more experienced people might help.

Well I had separated her from the flock and put her in the baby bed brooder to watch.. Had a thought later in the day to check her feet for something stuck maybe.. in the mean time, she washed her own feed in the water dish, and was walking around completely normal.. Funny how the water dish in the pen where her flock is managed to stay clean all day.. I know who the culprit is now!

Oh, she's just fine and dandy.. Got company now as I put Little Boy Blue in there with her to keep her company.. She's up and about all day, eating like a horse, and washing her feet from time to time. She obviously got some mud or something caked on one foot and wasn't pleased at all.

My first set of home grown silkies! They’re going to a friend’s mom who lost there’s and are going to be so spoiled. I just adore them so much 😭 Can’t wait til spring when I can hatch my own! Blackie is broody right now and the crankiest lil puff lol

Blue roo over blue or black hens, they don’t look mixed right? Not all have 5 toes though. Potential moms are silkie, MF D’Uccle, bantam Light Brahma, and barred bantam somethings. 3 blues and one black chick by my guess?

Sorry, this is gonna be a long post, so hang on to your hats! My first silkie cross project started with Turtle Dove and Gen Lee:

Then General Lee was bred to one of their daughters (foreground) and Cherokee a cochin mix.

Sharing is caring... so they say..

Seems the second batch are all Satins.. At least colors are consistent.
