Let this pen into the courtyard for some grass time. Then went to check food in next pen. Less than five minutes she went from clean to playing in the muddy water.

Believe it or not, it's an Eastern King Snake. A helper.. they turned a ton of them loose in Conecuh Nat'l Forest to help repopulate them since they seemed to be dwindling. CNF is about 30 miles south of me, but all farmland and or wilderness. I had spotted one once when I was working for the NFWS down in Fairhope, and called a state agency to identify it. Guy said I was fortunate to have even seen one. This is not my first sighting here, but at least I had camera in hand this time.
Here's the one I spotted 2012 in Fairhope.View attachment 3426656
Love this!!!

My two little gals just started laying a couple weeks ago!! They’re the most adorable, tiny eggs we’ve ever had lol.

I collected this egg yesterday that is speckled but the spots are almost blue/purple/grey in person. Our old silkies used to occasionally lay brown speckled eggs but I’ve never seen this colour. Just wondering if anyone knows why - I thought all silkies would produce brown spots on a speckled egg.

My first chick to hatch in the second batch is fuzzier (F1) than the pure silkie chick (partridge) I picked up yesterday.

Last eggs from the Liutenant (Splash, sold) and the Golden Girls.. And Little Boy Blue are not disappointing at all.. F1 and a few F2s.
