She almost looks like a lavender but I am seeing some brownish feathers in there as well which I wouldn’t expect to see. She is gorgeous! I don’t have enough experience to recommend a color but if she is lavender then you would want to breed her to another lavender. Lavender is recessive to black and if she is a lavender then breeding her with any other color would likely produce black.
Hopefully someone with more experience will reply!🥰
Ah ok that kinda makes sense as I got her along with lots of younger black silkies and a cockerel that I don't know the colour of....there was a partridge one amongst the flock too.not sure on whether any were related but that may explain it?

🥰 So my silkie, Nala, has always HATED to be held, scratched, kicked, flailed... well she just started laying eggs last week, and now she runs to the corner of the run when she sees me and jumps until I reach in to pick her up. She is SOOO SWEET!!!! I will have to upload a new pic of her. OH! And she is a daily layer!! 😍
I love her name... is it from Lion King by any chance?
Our black Silkie Jet was exactly same... Very antisocial until she laid her first egg. She was the first of our flock to start laying at 21 weeks, even though we weren’t sure she was a ‘she’ til that point!
Now she jumps into the back door and straight into my lap for cuddles! 🖤

I have two tiny bantam cochin chicks, I had Nala out with them yesterday, and she seemed to just ignore them. I am hoping to integrate them w her and the others in a few weeks. I hope she and the other older girls don't try to eat them! I was reading that silkies are very territorial, so I am a little worried!
I wonder if that means my very non-friendly splash ameraucana will be laying soon? Whenever I go into the coop lately she always gives me the eye and follows me around and today she even wanted me to pick her up and pet her which she never wants to do!😂

Jet is gorgeous!!! And yes, Nala is from the Lion King!! All my older girls are Disney girls.. Nala and Bella for the silkies, and Minnie and Daisy for the D'Uccles!

I just got a good shot of Bella, she is non-bearded too..

Funny too that Nala was our first layer was at 22 weeks 2 days!

Love the names... I’m always on the lookout for good chicken names!! Oh and Bella is adorable! Her blue lobes and red wattles 😍 She even looks like she’s wearing blue eyeliner!

We have a Zasu (also Lion King) but he is a crazy flighty Polish!
Omg dont say polish or ill end up getting one 😆

Is she squatting when you go to pick her up??

No she doesn’t really squat yet and her comb is not that red, I know those are the classic signs. I thought maybe this was a another sign that her hormones are starting to kick in!😊
Daisy was the first to start squatting, first w a red comb, and still nothing. Hopefully she isn't that far off. All of them were hatchmates. They need to get going so i can quit buying store eggs!!
