She may have just been pecking them to go back under her... But my other hen that did that killed her chicks
Did they peck the chicks at all? Like maybe to get bsck under her - hard like they cheep loud and fall over
Maybe she's telling them to have patience and wait for the other eggs to hatch before going out... I put food close by in case they're hungryI hope she is just trying to get them back under her!

Me too, I’ve always incubated the eggs up til now giving Layla a trial run. I’d be nervous as heck and be inclined to grab them and brood myself too!I hope she is just trying to get them back under her!

Chickaleta doesn't peck. Puff doesn't peck either. I'll wait and see, I have a heatlamp and box but I'd rather not set all that up and brood myself as it is heaps easier for mother hen to ingergrate chicks. I will rescue them if need be though, hopefully she will care for them!What about your older broody mama? I’m sorry I forget her name she’s nine years old I believe?
