Layla kicked one of the eggs out of the nest.
I chose to place it in the incubator, hopefully it did not sustain too much damage. We’ll see how she does with the remaining two.🙂

Aww I'm sorry she kicked the one out, hopefully she does a good job with the remaining two! :fl

I hope the one in the incubator does well as well, I know it is in good hands. ❤️

Success!!!!!!! All 5 popped out!!! The 2 cold eggs survived!!! :wee

That is fantastic news, congratulations!!! :celebrate

Such beautiful little ones, I can't wait to see how their colors develop! I wonder if the little white/yellow will end up being recessive white? It'll be really neat to see if dad's red shines through on any of the girls too! 🥰

These guys prefer to sleep outside!
Good thing I spent all that money on this fancy coop!🤣🤣🤣

Yes I can't wait to see their real colours! I wasn't expecting a little white one out of the mix! I do love the variety of colours in my flock - I get confused with some of the white ones but Puff has bigger wattles then Chickaleta and Boof has a larger crest and Creamy is more short and stout and very fluffy... Oh and has a red comb that I don't want to breed with so I don't know what I'll do with her as she has a bent toe so doesn't move about as much as the others and has had a prolapse a few times so needs extra care so I don't want to pass her on to someone else who may not care for her. She normally lays longer eggs so I can tell hers apart but now they are getting more normal shape it will be more difficulty to tell if it's her egg or not!

Too funny! :lau
Well as long as it's weather and predator protected then it's ok I guess! If you took away the outside roosting option then they'll have to use the coop ☺️
It's fine, predator and weather proof. 😊 Their run is covered in 1/2 inch hardware cloth and also skirted with hardware cloth. Granted we are in Hawaii, so does not get too cold at night. Lowest in the mid 50's (12-13 degrees centigrade) in the winter.

Nice, that's not cold at all 😄 they might be too hot in the coop and prefer the ventilation and breeze outside?

They just decided that’s where they want to be! In the beginning I stuffed them in the coop every night but I finally gave up and let them do what they want. Two of the silkies go in the coop and snuggle together at night. It’s a very well ventilated coop and they do go in there to lay eggs at least!🤣

That outside roost does look quite high up I'm surprised they can get up to it but looks like they've managed fine 😄

Yes it’s primarily for the non-silkie birds to hang out on during the day, but surprisingly enough the Silkies manage to get up there, those who want to anyway!
Funny enough, the silkies never go up their during the day though. At dusk, they go about halfway up the little ladder and use that as a stepping off point I think.😊
