Soooo cute... so im guessing here, but chocolate looks really similar in coloring to my Minnie, who is a brown red D'uccle... but she has that penciling. Search "brown red", its a common chicken color.

This hen is brown red.

So if this baby DOES turn out to be a dominant white, you're saying I can pair her with my black rooster and she will turn out paint babies?

I'd really like a Lavender Paint hen. I currently have two lavender paint roosters.

If the little one turned out to be dominant white yes you should be able to get paints with that one paired with a black.

While lavender paint is theoretically possible it's not a color I've seen attempted yet. I think your two beautiful boys are probably splash. The very light blue base they have with the darker splashes of color fits much better for the definition of splash. You can test breed to a black to find out. If they are splash they will produce blue offspring with a black. If they were lavender paint they would produce paint and black offspring since lavender is recessive.

If they are splash like I suspect you could breed one of the blue daughters back to one of them and you'd get 50% splash offspring and 50% blue.

If they are splash and were sold as lavender paint that wouldn't surprise me as a lot of newer breeders can get paint and splash mixed up. They may have just seen that slightly blue/white base and called them lavender paint because of that (admittedly the light splash base is close to a lavender color, just not genetically lavender).

I agree the beautiful roosters pictured look like splash to me as well. My splash Layla looks very similar and I hatched her from an egg from the same breeder. I was told she was lavender splash at the time.

I will need to save that post! ☺ Unfortunately my black hen died this spring from an unknown cause. My remaining hens are - 1 white, 2 Buff (although different shades of Buff).

The misidentification of the splash roos is probably my fault. The breeder (Alabama Silkies) sent me a mix of 22 eggs. They identified the potential for a lavender paint in the list of potential colors so I assumed that's what these boys were.... But I think splash was on the list too. I have some splash Blue Andalusians. These roos look nothing like those birds so I assumed (wrongly) that they were the paints.

If you remember my post from a week ago, my dark Buff hen hatched out 4 babies. There were 3 black chicks and one yellow chipmunk. Sadly, all of them died. Their inexperienced mama kept stepping on them. Two were squashed in the nesting box. I removed the remaining 2 babies but I think the damage was already done. I would have LOVED to had those babies survive....

My 2nd broody (white hen) was sitting on 9 eggs. I removed 6 of them and put them in the incubator. These are the eggs hatching now.... Today I looked under Elsa (white hen) to see if any of the remaining eggs had hatched. No babies but she now has FIVE eggs under her....

Her red is minimal, but peeking out.. Here is Minnie. If you zoom into the brown, you can see the pretty pattern. It looks similar (to me) to the frizzle color pattern.

So sorry about your earlier chicks! Crossing my fingers on your newest eggs. Do you have heat available in case you need to move any hatchlings?

Aww I'm sorry to hear about the black and the little chicks. I hear these stories often with first time moms. I think it would be adorable to see a momma with her babies, I hope your white girl does get some to hatch and is a good momma.

There are other combos that might lead back to getting some more splash in a couple generations but they would introduce other things too.

She looks (is colored) exactly like my frizzle! I could've swore I saw that color somewhere though and it was called something else, but I can't remember what.
