Something funny happened. We did have a chives in a pot, such one one gets in supermarkets or health stores. After having read that chickens can eat chives, we decided to give it to them to keep them occupied and placed the pot in their run so they could start to 'work' on it. First day they didn't seemed to be very happy with or impressed by the chives. But then the following two days they gave that little pot a steady haircut till there was just a hedgehog cut left. This weekend we did have soft boiled eggs for breakfast and my egg tasted unmistakeably of chives 😄
We decided that next time we will place chives only for an hour a day in the run 😁

I do have a question - my Brioche always scratches at the waterer (the ring formed part where the reachable water is in) when going to drink. She is the only one doing this (the waterer is such a regular one for chickens, standing elevated on three little legs) - does anybody have somebody doing this, too?

...And here is a funny picture of Snowman, today it has been very stormy, that's why he looks so 'driven'😂View attachment 2979233
Wow he's stunning!

Here is a pic of everyone in the big run, while giant Esmeralda wants to play in the mini coop 🤣

You can see tiny girl there in the center (that's her fluffy butt facing the camera).. i had to put steps in so she could reach the water and get back into the mini coop.

We have similar pre-fab coop! But did you modify it to have the poop trays and rollers or did it come that way? Mine doesn't have that extras!

Yes, please try to get a video for us
As promised heres a short clip of Joey doing his "honk" for lack of a better way of putting it...sounds little whiny. Definitely not his crow cuz I've seen and heard him do this.
He does it a lot more and constantly when he is out in the run...and has a little elevated pitch to it when I walk away.
So what do yall think?

They sold both, one with and without the trays. I was specifically looking for trays since my big girls started out as house chickens. But even having it outside, the trays are a back saver for cleaning!

My silkie girls kind of chattered and sounded like that. Is that you whistling, or do you have a parrot 🦜 ?

These four cuties hatched yesterday.
They will move over to the brooder later today. Getting blue chicks from Kana so far!😊View attachment 2978946
One chick still working on hatching in the incubator!

Oh congratulations on the new babies! Do you think you'll keep any of Kana's little blues? ❤️

Oh Snowman is so handsome! :love

I have some silly boys and girls who scratch at the waters too.

Sounds like fairly normal young boy noises to me. He definitely may be taking on more of a flock leader role as well. He also maybe a little confused with the new flock dynamic and talking about it. 😂 They are all soooo beautiful!!! 😍

Lolol that's me! My brain hasn't been "normal" the past 12 years now with chronic health problems...so for some dumb reason that's the "sound" I came up with when I call them or talk to then. Weird I know. My son-in-law said one sound I do sounds like a dove so heck if I know!
Hey it works...they also come to "come on babies!"

My new girlies! Two purebred girls and my silkied-feather Pekin Bantam/Silky x I picked up on the weekend.
