They aren't easy to find! How exciting!!!Well this did not help me say No hahaYour Polish adorable! I love them!
He said he wants to give them time to see if they are frizzled, so I have to wait for now (maybe a week or so) but I’m gonna get them if he decides to part with them. He also said they’re being raised by a broody Silkie so they should do great with my babies!I just love them, they’re so pretty!

Sounds like you ear witnessed the first crow contestOooh.. there was a mini rooster crow off this morning, soooo cute!! Not quite proper crowing, but they tried their best! Little silkie vs big polish! They are 9 weeks old this coming Sunday.
Big girls had to be bribed to come out of the coop into the cold.. a full cup of scratch plus meal worms worked... for about 15 minutesclearly they are tortoise chickens!
The sun is out though and the melting ice looks so pretty

This is so cuteSo.. finally, only took 2 days, but 2 of the polish figured out how to roost.
The little ones are on the brooder floor, and i Don't mind that because they all cover the tiny silkie.. i might TRY to get the two polish to stay in the big girl coop, totally depends on Elsa's behavior. The third (girl) polish is besties w the tiny silkie, so separating them would just stress them out. I'll keep them sleeping in the mini coop until the tiny silkie gets a bit bigger.

Its blurry because they will all jump around if i get closer, but there are actually 4 chicks cuddling on the left!

I just love them. My husband wanted silkies so we went all in. Now I am hatching in my incubator. One of my 3 1/2 week old silkys I kept to keep the 1 that just hatched company. The new hatchling is very tiny. She is acting like a mom to her. Letting her sleep under her legs. Showing her where to eat and drink. It truly amazes me how she is a little mama.
First and foremost - ABSOLUTELY NO HATING ON SILKIES ALLOWED!!! If you aren’t here to support our fuzzy friends, don’t respond.
Silkies get a bad rap for the following:
"Looks like a dust mop"
"Too hard to maintain"
"Poor immune system"
"Dumber than rocks"
"0 predator awareness"
And oh, so much more.
Well my friends - I thought so too, until I actually got silkies for myself. These are some of the most wonderful birds out there.
I’ve found them to be highly heat tolerant, wonderful mothers, having the strongest immune systems in my Bantam flock, GREAT LAYERS (that’s right folks), adorable as all get out, and more.
I currently have 9 silkies - and my rooster has been nothing but a gentleman to his ladies. They free range daily and I’ve not had a silkie get killed by a predator yet. My hens average 5 eggs a week - not too bad for a silkie, eh?
Most of the time, these silkie haters haven’t even owned the breed, but rather pretend they know everything.
So... let the fun begin! Support our silkies!
Pictures always welcome.
Be mindful, and respect others...
Off-topic discussions are allowed, though try to maintain the subject of silkies.
