I just love them. My husband wanted silkies so we went all in. Now I am hatching in my incubator. One of my 3 1/2 week old silkys I kept to keep the 1 that just hatched company. The new hatchling is very tiny. She is acting like a mom to her. Letting her sleep under her legs. Showing her where to eat and drink. It truly amazes me how she is a little mama.
So absolutely adorable!! Speaks to how early they go broody too!! 😍

LadiesAndJane this reminds me of your little Amai ❤️
I was just thinking the same! 🥰
Here’s a “flashback” photo of Amai, she was about three weeks older than the other three as well and definitely was a little mama for them. Super sweet.😊

Oh how adorable are those two together! What a sweet little one acting like a mom to the other. ❤️

5/5 Silkie chicks hatched today.
Photo in the dryer. Hoping for more blues from Kana, though got one black and one paint from her eggs.

Second photo is the two blues from last week that are going to their new home tomorrow!😊View attachment 2984016

Awww the new babies are beautiful! Those little light blues are gorgeous too, I wonder what shade they'll feather out to? I love how variable blue is, it really makes blues and splash such fun colors! 🥰

Thanks! 🥰Hoping the new owners post update photos!😊

I love their shiny black beaks! They look like a very pretty blue shade!!
Thanks!🥰 I’m kind of regretting that I sold them but hopefully more blues will hatch. I really don’t have room for more birds right now anyway.🤔

:love Awwww, congrats! So, so cute 🥰 It's especially touching when their feathers still need to dry 🤗
5/5 - that's awesome!

Hopefully you will get updates from the new owners of the two little Kana-blues ❤️

Well the chicks got ejected from the house. It'll be a little chilly in the early morning tomorrow, but just for a couple hours. Ill make sure i have the mini coop wrapped up in cardboard. They are great cuddlers, so they should be fine. But the sun is out and feels so good.

As i expected, the big girls, especially Esmeralda, surprisingly, were just too rough w the chicks. One got stuck under the mini coop while fleeing, the tiny silkie was held hostage in a corner. So I'll just keep them locked in the mini coop and restart the integration process.

Weather looks good from here on out (well, as far as the 10 day report goes) and they should be bigger soon enough. Once i get them integrated into the run, then I'll start working on the coop. The mini coop will be a great chicken hospital room in the future.

Im looking up gardening ideas for around the run.. thinking raised planter beds with roses, sunflowers, squash. I have REAL work to do too 😆 so I'll have to figure out how to balance both NEEDS.
