It's here local and thought I'd see bout adding it to the babies!
Does it look like a satin to yall or too early to tell?

Looks like pure white to me.. but of course that can change when the adult feathers come in. Super cute! Do the wing tips look like they are frizzled when you look up close?

Since Elsa is just getting worse as far as dominance goes (she even tries to chest bump through the prison fence), I have decided I will build a chicken tractor that she can live in and let her free range the yard with Esmeralda. They seem to tolerate each other just fine and neither one has an interest in flying away (although Esmeralda could, if she figured it out). That will free up the penitentiary as a neonatal facility when the day comes that Betty, Bambina and Barney make little paint babies. It'll take me a little time before I can take on the construction project, but hoping I can do that by next month. 🐔🚜🏥🐣🐥🐤🐣

I have a quick question, can fowl pox be transmitted from parent to chick through genetics and then the fowl pox show up later in that chicks life, or is it just a sickness that they'll get over? Thanks! 😊
Its just a virus.. transmitted by mosquitos. Most of the time it's nothing to worry about. I just added vitamins to my chickens' water and gave them epsom salt baths when they were scratching too much.

Thanks! I don’t blame them, they are awesome and this is the first time it’s happened. Here’s a photo from today where you can really see the boy coming through!
Can’t wait to see what his streamers and saddle feathers look like!

You called it! I've heard of the DNA places occasionally having incorrect results. He really is so handsome, I can't wait to see how his male plumage comes in too! 😍

Hmm well I'd guess most likely white or splash for that cutie. If splash the splashes of color should come in a little later as she/he feathers in (the down reminds me more of splash but recessive white down can look all sorts of ways). Looks like dad is barred too so baby might be as well (though with splash or white you probably won't be able to see it). I'd lean more towards this baby being a silkie rather than a satin with how the wing feathers look now. It sure would be cute if the little one was a frizzled silkie. 🥰 I can't tell whether frizzled or not yet though.

Good to know! Hadn't thought of splash!
Yall are so much better at this than I am!
I'm gonna go get in person look tomorrow and see what I can tell.
Oh I keep meaning to ask....was it you that had mentioned before about the u-shape on comb of chicks being male identifier vs a v-shape being female?
I could have sworn we talked bout it on this thread but can't find anything other than Pippens article.
