I saw Biscuit rooster feet bleeding today! 😩 Scaley mites!
I regularly treat with permethrin spray and powder in dust bath.
I just gave him another dose of Ivermectin on his neck just now and half filled Icecream container of extra virgin olive oil and swished his feet in.
What you you all do to treat mites? My rooster seems to be the one affected, 2 others have it very minor so I gave them another permethrin spray.

He's in the coop now keeping to himself.. poor boy 😟

you can use car oil - when you change oil in your car ask a bottle of the used one. it is also good to "paint" roosts with that oil. you can add some vinegar in it if using on chickens or some bleach if using on the roosts. I usually put 30% of any edible oil to dilute used car oil for the chickens. I know someone who treats his chickens with used car oil only.

I haven't had mites on my chickens... yet. What type of bedding/litter do you use?

Here's an article i found, scroll down to the sulphur mix. I've seen sulphur mentioned elsewhere for mites as well. I use zeolite granules as litter, trying to see if that works against mites. I notice the ants don't even come into the run or coop. I'll post it i find anything on it.

I don't think the article came through

Yall Joey is all by himself in there with 3 babies that are 6 weeks old now. He's been doing so well! Grayson always treated the babies...but Joey has picked up!
While I was out gardening I decided to let him out to enjoy the grass and clover we have an abundance of. We haven't had any AI in our state. And I just feel so badly for him. He stayed right with me til he noticed the garden LOL....I gave him good understanding he could have it once it is done! But not yet! Lol

My coop has a dirt floor. I use dirt/sand in the coop and pine shavings or straw in nestboxes. I use to use straw or hay everywhere but that's just so much more work and I heard mites like to hide in it too so I switched to just sand over the dirt and also use mats I can lift out and hose down if needed.
I also take out and wash down roosts then spray with permethrin. I think the buggers must be hiding in my pallet/ timber coop walls 😩
