Yall I did a thing...
More eggs to incubate!
Either I'm too much to deal with or i need new accountability partners!
Going to pick up 18 eggs shipped from Maryland! Super excited to get some new blood of satins & silkies which will include possible frizzle and showgirls!!!
Most of em I will definitely sell but keep probably 3 of the cutest and best personality...pullets!
But DH did say I gotta go up from $5 a chick to $10 to atleast break even lol! But hey its still better than how I began giving them all away - right?!
Oh! So egg-citing!!! :jumpy:jumpy:jumpy
I'm at capacity 😢 22 now in my coop ... A few months and hatching season will start again here though if I see good fertility I think I'll sell eggs rather then hatch to sell. Although I can't have 18 hens and not hatch any or I'll have them all lined up in broody jail cages 😅

Thank Goodness I only have one silkie hen that's of age.. I'd have silkies running out my ears!

Some pictures I took to try and show sex differences at young age. I used a new rooster and he passed the moorhead to almost all of them. I prefer not to have it as it's against standard, but I can work with him for now. Notice how the males are orange around the neck to the females tan. Males also have bigger comb and tiny wattle spots that are already mulberry colored.

Blue partridge. Male on left, female on right. 7 weeks old +/- a few days. Female is older.

So, my first silkie rooster had to have the cha gene. I doubt seriously if momma has it being Bielefelder x EE. They produced two black headed babies while the body color was totally different. I specifically want to put this girls back with a silkie, possibly their father.
