Late night pondering… If you had three white silkies, one black, and two blue, what colour roo would you keep? White or blue? The white might have a faulted skull if he’s the one I think he was as a baby. Blue is not as poofy and very submissive to the very dominant white male

Too Bad you are soooooooo far away.. 2 of my blue splashes are shaping up to be boys! Can't seem to figure out how to work them into my flock.

Id definitely keep your favorite and then add the blue roo. But only if hes nice. I remind my chickens they can be replaced for $4 online if they don't cooperate. Thankfully they've all gotten the memo at this point.

Yep, no point keeping the roosters that aren't nice when you can easily breed more or buy others.

I'm down to 22 chickens, all Silkies. 1 roosters, Biscuit, and I'd say at least 3 or 4 boys are in the mix that should show themselves soon.
I think you need double the amount of chickens if you have Silkies since they go broody often and don't lay as often

We do have some very excellent breeders locally that I should take advantage of for sure. Thanks for the reminder! I have such a hard time getting rid of anything

I had been thinking I’d focus on bantams this year, but we’ve had such a demand for eggs that I can’t keep up! It’s been helping keep them fed, but the number of roos isn’t helping lol
