Not silkie related, but this is my female project chick who started to not feel very well yesterday.
She's from my Wheaten Crele Project.

She was 5 weeks old last Tuesday.

Silkies are my go to chicks, they are so fluffy, people around me WANT them because barely anyone sells them, They are dumb but it makes them look adorable, They are super sweet and great for show birds. there are more reasons why I LOVE silkies then more why I hate them (I have 2 hates but they are extremely small hates) My prof is a silkie, her name is sugar the owner called her so I stuck with it, I also have a black/buff silkie named Justice and a floofy white chick silkie named coconut. They are the sweetest little puff balls <3.

Ok, so I have 3 silkies that I have been wondering about their color. Any help would be appreciated.

First and foremost - ABSOLUTELY NO HATING ON SILKIES ALLOWED!!! If you aren’t here to support our fuzzy friends, don’t respond. :)

Silkies get a bad rap for the following:
"Looks like a dust mop"
"Too hard to maintain"
"Poor immune system"
"Dumber than rocks"
"0 predator awareness"
And oh, so much more.

Well my friends - I thought so too, until I actually got silkies for myself. These are some of the most wonderful birds out there.

I’ve found them to be highly heat tolerant, wonderful mothers, having the strongest immune systems in my Bantam flock, GREAT LAYERS (that’s right folks), adorable as all get out, and more. :D

I currently have 9 silkies - and my rooster has been nothing but a gentleman to his ladies. They free range daily and I’ve not had a silkie get killed by a predator yet. My hens average 5 eggs a week - not too bad for a silkie, eh? :)

Most of the time, these silkie haters haven’t even owned the breed, but rather pretend they know everything.

So... let the fun begin! Support our silkies! :woot

Pictures always welcome. :)

I love my silkies I have 15 silkies and what I can tell so far 3 are roosters, only I haven’t noticed egg production yet and they are 8 months old

I've finished my latest drawing...'The Owl' :celebrate

It's my first time ever drawing in a realistic style and I can't wait to get it mounted and framed!

Photos of it aren't great due to the lighting, some edited in black and white because I thought it looked pretty.

It took me roughly 25-30 hours!

All drawn freehand on Earthbound Recycled paper and coloured with Faber-Castell colour pencils. Finished off with white paint highlights.

'The Owl' is based on one of my own photographs I took earlier this year of an Ashy Faced Owl.

Wondering how this is Silkie related? I'm drawing one next! I just can't decide which one to draw...

I may put a thread out asking for people to post their Silkies and I might draw someone else's rather than my own!
