I'm getting my Maran/GameFowl cross a harness to train him away from distractions when I let him out. He's just so hyperactive, & hard to control sometimes. The harness probably won't fit my silkies, cuz the harness is for roosters weighing 6.6lbs. I think one of my Silkie Cockerels might fit in it, but not all of them.

That may work for you :) I have the aviator harness in large I think.

It's a harness for macaws etc so it's slightly big on the majority of my Silkies. The one it fits best is Zoltan, plus I think he loves pink!

:lau
I am pretty sure my neighbors know me as 'the girl with a ton of roosters' or 'the girl who tells at her chickens to "he nice" or "no pecks" all day'!

Ah well that's alright then! At least I'm not the only one out there that's like that with their chickens :gig

I walk them up the street sometimes and people like to stare...I wonder why :idunno

My sister got a small Yesito, harness for bantams, but it doesn't fit bantams, only Silkies because they're slightly bigger then bantams. I'm pretty sure it won't fit my standard silkies, only the bantam Silkies.

I've seen the chicken harnesses advertised but getting the size right on them seems difficult, it looks like they don't adjust much?

At least with the parrot one it can be changed in size quite a bit.

Does anyone else's Silkie rooster(s) wear blue eyeliner?

Zoltan does, I never knew they could get blue there

The Yesito harness is adjustable, but the adjustment just doesn't stay the way you need it.

I just got my second silkie egg! There is barely any blood on it this time, and it is MUCH LESS pointy (as before it was too pointy to be safe to hatch).
I checked the tall coop, then went off to clean the chick coop (I took about 10 minutes), and when I came back to the tall coop there was an egg in the ground! I have a guess of which silkie layed it now.
The only problem is that when I was about to put it in the carton I dropped it:he
I am only getting one egg a day (now two, thank you silkie), so every egg loss is a bad:barnie

That's great to hear! :yesss:

Not great to hear about dropping the egg though :barnie

Don't worry, it happens! I've done it myself many times!

To everyone on this Silkie thread, I just want to say Thankyou to you all for just generally being so nice and just enjoying Silkies as a breed :) non of you nit pick or target anyone out. If someone wins something, you all just say well done, not fire 'insults' about the birds and how they aren't right for showing.

Elsewhere I've recently had people putting my birds down saying they shouldn't win or they aren't good enough for breeding or haven't been judged by a proper judge etc...

Some people can be lovely, but others so damn right disrespectful/judgemental without actually ever seeing my birds in person.

I apologise to people who think my birds aren't good enough to win but unfortunately I'm not the one that judges them :hmm

My Silkies are literally my only hobby/passion and I do my best with them as i'm sure most of you do too. Having people constantly trying to bring you down is irritating and pretty hurtful.
