I don't know. She isn't the most talkative person. Why does she want 200 silkies? Just curious, seems like too many to keep track of!![]()
I wish mine would!Dealing with broody number two right now! Kana got over it fairly quickly but now Layla is broody and puffs herself up to twice her size!
Decided to wait until they’ve been laying for a few more months before setting eggs to ensure fertility!![]()
Why are you even asking? Do it!Just thought I would let everyone know I have a hatch-a-long going on. No silkies at the moment.
What does everyone think about me doing a 30 egg silkie hatch-a-long this spring?
Oh man, just imagine having to break all of those!Imagine the BROODIES ...100 pullets turn into 100 broody mummas that sat on 8 eggs each.. ... Then more chicks! You dont need to start with many Silkies because they multiply!![]()
Yayyyyy!!! Keep us updated, (and don't forget the pics!!)I have moved broody number 2 into the broody coop last night, she stayed on the eggs yay! Due to hatch 21st Jan... Mumma hen with her 7 chicks was not impressed that I blocked off her sleeping coop (broody coop) but they all figured out to roost in the main coop with the others

AGREE!Yayyyyy!!! Keep us updated, (and don't forget the pics!!)
They're so pretty! Now I've got to share my breeding flock.Alright, so this is my breeding flock this year, and I am hoping to get some idea of the color I'll get from these guys. I'm breeding for shape, so color doesn't really matter, but I'd like to know anyways if possible.
There are five total. Please excuse their messy crests, it's been wet recently!

The rooster. I think he's a black/buff mix, but I didn't hatch him myself so I'm not sure. He has buff-orange leakage on his neck and breast.

Hen #1
Pure blue, as far as I know.

Hen #2
Buff, but she has a few black/blue feathers in her plumage. Maybe a recessive gene?

Sorry this is a poor picture of her. Her parents were blue and buff, but she is a black/buff mix.
So, what do ya think I'll get? Not sure if you'll be able to tell, but it's worth a try.
