Silkies - They’re simply SPECTACULAR!

Just found a breeder in Washington who ships to Hawaii! They have both paint and lavender silkies!!!!! Somebody stop me!

It's not looking good for chickies.. one is huddled up cold so my daughter gave it a snuggle.. Do you just use a normal light to keep them warm? What do you do overnight? ..I might have to make some sort of brooder but would be in my bedroom or outside. What temp do 2 week old Silkies need? It's around 12 degrees at night and 21 during the day (celcius).
I'd rather they stay outside enjoying the grass with the other chickens.

I would bring them in. Brooder does not have to be fancy. Even a large cardboard box will do. I brood in a converted chinchilla cage with a deep pan. I use brooder plates, but any heat source will do even a regular light bulb, as long as it keeps them warm. They need about 35 degrees celcius right out the egg, then reduce the heat weekly. At 2 weeks they need around 30 degrees. You can try hanging a light bulb high enough that the chick can feel the warmth without touching it.
You can also use a heating pad, but needs to be the kind without auto shut off.

Try looking for the threads about the "mama heating pad" same principle as brooder plates, but you can make it yourself from a heating pad.

OMG! Who is it?

Rainer Foothills Farm. No communication from them yet. I ended up ordering paint and BBS hatching eggs, as they did not have the option for chicks yet. Decided against the lavender as their lavender pen is mixed with frizzle and smooth and I was not sure if I wanted to introduce that into the mix.
No idea when to expect them. It takes about 10-14 days to get the permits in order for Hawaii.
