Oops sorry, responded to the wrong postBeautiful birds!
Is your hen a paint? I see a few black flecks up in her crest.
They are so adorable!!! I love all their big eyes...and hanabiThese three little guys hatched over the weekend. Their down color is so different. I know they’re all going to feather in white, would be cool though if the little champagne colored one stayed that color! Kind of in love with this one.
Had to throw a picture of Hanabi in of course as well.View attachment 2647755View attachment 2647756View attachment 2647764

Have you had her since she was a chick? I’m sure you know this with your extensive genetics knowledge, paint are usually born with the little black flecks that become more prominent as they feather in. The amount of black can vary greatly.I don't even know what is her color
Paint should be white with some flecks, I think she is a khaki of sortsHave you had her since she was a chick? I have a little three week old paint cockerel that has been getting more prominent black markings as his feathers are coming in.![]()
Yeah she almost looks like an adult version of my little champagne colored chick! Though these chicks will all feather in white, both their parents are white and they always throw chicks with different down colors.Paint should be white with some flecks, I think she is a khaki of sorts
Not a usual thing to have 100% hatch rate so if you got a few more eggs and if 3 or 4 did end up hatching could you sell excess chicks? We are hoping to get her a fertile egg off Ebay but we can only get a maximum of 2 eggs (because we have a coop for 6 chickens- 2 hens and 3 chicks moving out to the coop in a week so... Yeah).
We have her sat on a supermarket egg at the moment
