I know they’re all going to feather in white, would be cool though if the little champagne colored one stayed that color! Kind of in love with this one.

I have 5 in the incubator scheduled to hatch this week-end. 6 have hatched, one was DIS just before hatching. Internally pipped but did not hatch. It was malpostioned. But, the 6 that have hatched so far are super healthy. A few of them have 6 toes on each foot, funny as both parents have 5 toes.
I find it especially sad when they get so close but then don't hatch.

Well 5 toes on each foot is the norm. But I have hatched some with 4 on one foot, 5 on the other. This is the first time with 6! It is not unheard of, but I guess not totally uncommon either.
This little one has six toes on each foot. On the right foot they’re clearly delineated. On the left foot two of them are fused together. Does not seem to interfere with her ability whatsoever to walk.
Between the broodies (4 right now, 3 silkies and the english orp) taking up all the nest boxes, disturbing the other chickens' laying routine, and chicken math (up to 18 chickens now) I have decided to make a separate coop and run for the silkies plus Hanabi. My husband is pretty tool handy, having a background in construction, but he has no interest or time to build it. So I found someone who can build it for me. It will be smallish, 4 x 4 ft, and movable if need be. Planning to attach it to a 10 x 5 x 6 dog run. Covering the entire run with 1/2 inch hardware cloth with a 12 inch skirt to keep those pesky mongoose out. Won't be huge, but I think sufficient. Might just keep the boys in the tractor, which would be plenty big for two birds, assuming they get along.
Will keep the standard layers in the original open coop/run which is 12' x 12'.
I am selling both Akira and Imari to a lovely lady that has bought chicks from me a few months ago and takes excellent care of them. That will bring it down to 16 birds in all, split between the two coops. Who new that hatching eggs as part of a pandemic project would lead to all this...
