The silkies are over 13 weeks old now I think I'm looking forward to something most of you all dread. I can not wait to hear Branch's first crow. He is my first bantam boy and I imagine it will be a cute little crow. He's been practicing, going through the motions the last few days but so far not a peep has came out.
First crows are adorable! My little polish is so high-pitched and cute, like a kitten trying to be scary!!! Kiwi sounded like a donkey and a (strangled) cat mixed together

Broody hens thought it was a good idea to sleep together:idunno

Hello lovely silkie friends!
My friends 7 month old silkie (one of mine that she got as a chick) was having trouble expelling her very first egg and some tissue was wrapped around the egg. She managed to get the egg out with some epsom salt baths, but now what to do about the tissue? Any of you ever come across this? I did post under emergencies, but trying to cover a wide range of responses if possible! There are photos on the other thread. The egg has come out now. Thanks for any input!🥰https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/first-egg-and-tissue-expelled-please-help-😬.1492267/

Poor girl! Glad you got the prolapse back in. Do you have her in a dark place so not many hours of daylight to help prevent her from laying again?

Thanks, no I will cover her up so she won’t try to lay another egg. We called all the vets in the area I found only one that deals with birds. Waiting to get a callback from them. I don’t know if she needs a surgical intervention. Every time she exerts herself it prolapses out again.😞
