Meet Josie!
Are prominent cheeks on silkie and polish chicks a good indicator that they are bearded? Or does that take a while to show up?![]()
Awesome, thanks! They came from batches with possible frizzle and bearded genes. So far, i don't think any of the tolbunts are frizzled, but those cheeks..I've only seen the more prominent/puffier cheeks in bearded and partially bearded birds so it may not be a sure sign but still a pretty decent indicator even when they are little.![]()
Found these photos of some of my chicks that demonstrate bearded vs. non bearded.Awesome, thanks! They came from batches with possible frizzle and bearded genes. So far, i don't think any of the tolbunts are frizzled, but those cheeks..and on the silkies, im thinking no frizzles. One of the silkie hatchmates had nice curly feathers (that one was not for sale), so it did seem to show early enough (day 5 at the time).
Ohhhh!! Very helpful, thank you so much!Found these photos of some of my chicks that demonstrate bearded vs. non bearded.
Hope this helps.
