So as I'm looking at this little black crossed chick... im kind of thinking it looks a lot more like the polish. But it does have black feet. The tail, wings, vault, SIZE, are more similar to the polish than the silkies.. what are you guys' thoughts? Cochin/silkie, or cochin/polish. The silkies are just sooo tiny in comparison.

The polish and mystery cross are catching some serious air flying around the brooder!

I have 8 pure silkie chicks that look exactly the same.

Definitely Silkie going on in there whether it’s Silkie/Polish or Silkie/Cochin remains to be seen. Does look a lot like my smooth feathered Polish/ silkie crosses, I must say.😊View attachment 2933872
Okay im back to thinking silkie polish cross.. this is so similar.. just add a pair of uggs on its feet.

Ok... maybe i need to accept what the lady told me. She said it came from the paint silkie egg batch. Its just growing much faster already than the two paints.
Well most paint breeding will give you 50% black and 50% paint chicks. Though this one has smooth or satin feathers so there has to be a non-silkie feathered gene in there somewhere. I still suspect it is Polish/silkie (unknown percentages) based on how this chick looks.😊

I can not get enough pictures. 😂

I was guessing cochin because there were some frizzles in the batch, plus the straight comb.. but the source of the paint eggs has a very established line, so the cochin features, other than frizzle, may have been bred out already.

Im leaning more towards the polish/silkie as well. This morning i walked in and the 2 silkies were sleeping together, and the other 4 were piled up.. and i couldn't tell which one was the all black one because they looked so similar. Im excited. I hope it ends up being female. 😍
